· Manage tooling programs sourced globally, from award through final buy-off and delivery.
· Serve as the primary liaison between internal departments and international mold suppliers, ensuring alignment on project expectations, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
· Communicate effectively in English and Mandarin to facilitate technical discussions, design reviews, issue resolution, and progress updates.
· Coordinate internal project requirements with design, engineering, quality, logistics, and manufacturing teams.
· Oversee design for manufacturing (DFM) approvals, kick-off meetings, and tooling progress reports.
· Review tool designs, design changes, and trial results for compliance with internal and customer requirements.
· Manage tooling budgets, monitor performance against timelines, and identify deviations or risks.
· Organize and participate in tool buy-offs (remote or in-person) and manage post-delivery modifications if required.
· Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of all program activity, timelines, and communications.
· Support logistics and customs planning for tools being imported into North America.
· 5+ years of experience in program or project management within the mold making or tooling industry.
· University degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related discipline preferred.
· Fluency in Mandarin (spoken and written).
· Strong technical knowledge of injection mold design, construction methods, and global tooling standards.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects across various teams and regions.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project tracking systems, and CAD software (NX preferred).
· Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Availability to work flexible hours to coordinate with overseas teams.
· Willingness to travel internationally when necessary.
· Hands-on experience with mold processing and troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with automotive tooling programs (particularly complex or surface-critical parts).
· Working knowledge of GD&T and DFM principles.
· Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.
· Exposure to simulation tools such as mold flow, cooling, and warp analysis software.
· Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and customer RFQs (Requests for Quotation) to determine cost factors
· Develop and prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for parts, assemblies, and manufacturing processes
· Evaluate material, labor, tooling, equipment, and overhead requirements
· Collaborate with engineering, procurement, production, and sales teams to gather cost inputs
· Assess supplier quotes and negotiate pricing when required
· Review historical cost data to support and validate estimates
· Support “make vs. buy” analysis and cost reduction initiatives
· Update and maintain cost databases and pricing models
· Provide input on pricing strategies and profitability analysis
· Monitor actual manufacturing costs against estimates and report variances
· Ensure cost estimating complies with company policies and automotive industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949)
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Management, Finance, or related field
· 3+ years of cost estimating experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably automotive)
· Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, molding, machining, assembly)
· Familiarity with automotive industry standards and practices
· Proficient in Excel, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.), and cost modeling tools
· Strong analytical and mathematical skills
· Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
· Effective communication skills to work across departments and with external suppliers
Preferred Competencies:
· Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and BOM structures
· Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
· Experience with CAD or technical drawing interpretation
· Record and process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and on time.
· Assist in tracking job costs and analyzing project profitability for tooling and mold builds.
· Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and vendor accounts regularly.
· Support month-end close with journal entries and account reconciliations.
· Assist with tracking of capital assets and calculating depreciation.
· Ensure accurate allocation of costs to jobs, departments, and GL accounts.
· Collaborate with production and project teams to validate time sheets and materials usage.
· Prepare financial and cost reports as needed by the Controller or operations.
· Help support internal and external audit requests and documentation.
· Maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal control procedures.
· Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a tool and mold making environment.
· Education: University Degree in Finance
· CPA Designation as an asset
· Technical Skills: Proficient in SAP/ERP Systems, Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
· Organizational skills: Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to collaborate with various departments.
